I Do Not Like It When My Friend Comes to Visit
Published in School & Library Binding by Harcourt (June, 1973)
Author: Ivan. Sherman
Average review score:

Nostalgia
My parents bought me this book when I was young, and I just love it. I still own my copy. When I tried to get other books by this writer, I found they are all out of print. Too bad. I think he speak right to the heart and humour of children. I identify with the little (and extremely ugly) girl who has trouble with putting on her coat, slides upside down the slide, and wants to run with her baby brother's stroller rather than walk. She is the impulses and desires in each one of us.

Israeli Sherman
Published in Hardcover by Darlington Productions (May, 2001)
Author: Thomas Gannon
Average review score:

Outstanding
Tis is an extermely detailed and accurate book about the israeli Sherman tank. The author shows a first class familiarity with the Sherman in general, and with the Israeli Sherman in particular. He draws on many relyable sources, and many of his detailed illustrations come firsthand from Israeli sources and from Israeli museums (mainly the tank museum in Latroun). No technical detail is too trivial, no nut and bolt too small to mention. Nor is the Historical aspect neglected! Try as I might, and being myself quite familiar with the subject, I could find no inaccuracies in this outstanding book.

Jacob Have I Loved: A Unit Plan
Published in Paperback by Teacher's Pet Publications, Inc. (January, 1996)
Author: Janine Sherman
Average review score:

WORTH GETTING!
I am teacher of reading and language for 6 and 7 grades. I purchased this CD to give me some additional resourses with this book. Jacob Have I Loved is a wonderful story. My 7th graders really enjoyed it. The LitPlans made my job so much easier. I didn't have to make up chapter tests or vocabulary tests. I was able to focus more on the literature part of the book and not worry about assessment. My students are at an average to below average reading ability and did not have difficulty understanding the questions. The LitPlans offer "Free Response" style questions as well as "Multiple Choice" questions. Puzzles were also given to supplement my lessons. I will definitely purchase more of them. Right now I am interested in purchasing LitPlans for "Animal Farm", and "To Kill a Mockingbird". I say "BUY IT", you will be glad you did!

The John Updike Encyclopedia
Published in Unknown Binding by Greenwood Pub Group (E) (October, 2000)
Authors: Jack De Bellis, Rajeswararao Chaganti, and Hugh Sherman
Average review score:

GOLDEN NUGGETS OF UPDIKE
Kudos are in order! The long-awaited John Updike Encyclopedia by Jack De Bellis is now available--a treasure trove of information on all aspects of John Updike's work and life, with a complete chronology, analytical index, and other useful features for general readers, students, and researchers.

All Updike fans will praise Jack De Bellis for bringing forth this hefty companion, chock full of golden nuggets about Updike the artist and his literary creations. That JU undoubtedly will consult this fine and elaborate synthesis of himself and his literary output countless times is perhaps the highest praise for this unique work of reference and literary history.

The encyclopedic format, with alphabetical entries, is user friendly and lets the reader choose a random perusal or a more purposeful reading throughout its 550 pages. And a very complete analytical index will point to any specific topic the reader may choose. Many of the entries are substantial enough to be essays--like the first I read, ``The Creative Process,'' that was over 3 pages long. Then I went on to read others at random, focusing on fascinating tidbits that just kept jumping off the page, many of which were little known biographical facts about Updike. Indeed, the idea that a concise biography is available in these pages came to me after spending about an hour with the book.

This book will become a lifetime companion to many of us who greatly admire the artistry of John Updike. And even though Greenwood Press's reference book price is high for this first hardcover edition, the John Updike Encyclopedia will have a long and useful life, which makes it a bargain for all of us who understand how important Mr. Updike and his work are to American literature. My congratulations, praise, and sincere thanks to Jack De Bellis for this wonderful work.

Life's Delicate Balance: Causes and Prevention of Breast Cancer
Published in Hardcover by Taylor & Francis (29 February, 2000)
Author: Janette D. Sherman
Average review score:

For a reality check--a must read!
This book is an eye-opener. I am not a radical environmentalist, but I do care about what we do to ourselves and our children. This book is about the indiscriminate use of chemicals & radiation and the results of that use. It is focused on Breast cancer, but can be applied to over all health issues in general. It is easy to read and comprehend. I highly recommend.

Love, Sex and Relationships
Published in Paperback by YWAM Publishing (December, 1998)
Author: Dean Sherman
Average review score:

Excellent resource on dating
Dean Sherman has written an excellent book about the complicated world of dating. This is a balanced, Biblical approach to relationships in general, with specific reference to how singles should interact with other singles. He never mandates that singles stop dating, but encourages them to follow a Biblical model of what is wise and loving. Sherman's writing style is converstional and often humorous, with many Biblical references. I feel like I've read nearly every book out there on the subject and this is by far the best. A MUST READ for every Christian single!

M4 Sherman Walk Around 01
Published in Paperback by Squadron Signal Publications ()
Author: Don Greer
Average review score:

A Sherman modeling MUST HAVE!
If you are detailing a Sherman this is the book you need! There are numerous close up pictures of all spots on the tank that modelers rarely get a chance to look at in period photographs. Don Greer took photos of several museum Shermans. He has all the stuff you wish you could look at but don't have an actual Sherman to see ... gun shields, brackets, engines hatches, weld joints, lights, interior equipment, equipment mounts, etc. Most of the pictures are in color. Squadron/Signal needs to do more armor books like this.

The Magic of Humor in Caregiving
Published in Paperback by Pathway Books (February, 1995)
Author: James R. Sherman
Average review score:

Humor will get you through caregiving!
Excellent book to help you hold onto your sanity while coping with caregiving. If you are a caregiver, you don't need to be depressed by another of the many serious books that are so hard to get through and make you cry. This one will make you smile when you need it most. Another really great book, filled with laughter of such a difficult subject is "Elder Rage."
